History and imported chats

Find saved answers, choose how long they’re kept, and bring in conversations from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.

Return to an answer

Open History from the tray menu, the chat panel’s header or a History pill. Last answer in the tray menu or a pill opens the newest answer.

Type in “Search answers…” to filter by title, question, pill name, file name or date. Open an answer to read it or follow up.

Answers and their attachments are saved on your PC.

Keep or remove answers

Open Settings, then Chat panel, and set Keep answers to 30 days, 90 days, 1 year or Forever. The default is 90 days. A follow-up counts as new activity for that chat.

Use an answer’s delete button to remove it, or Clear all to remove everything. Both ask you to confirm. Deleting also removes the attached files. You can’t delete an answer that is still being written.

Import chats from another service

Open Settings, then Backup, and choose Import chats… next to Chats. Pick the export file you downloaded from ChatGPT, Claude or Google Takeout (a .zip, .json or .html file).

  • ChatGPT and Claude: use the data export from your account settings.
  • Gemini: use Google Takeout and include Gemini Apps.
  • When it finishes, the line next to Chats shows how many chats were imported, “Already imported” or “No chats found”.

What importing keeps

Imported chats keep their text and code. Images and attachments become placeholders. They appear in History with their source and date, and importing the same export again doesn’t add duplicates. The import happens on your PC.

You can read an imported chat without a model. If you continue one, the whole conversation goes to your AI provider, so long chats cost more. Imported chats follow your Keep answers setting from the day you import them.
